Adjective বলে?

যে  word দ্বারা  Noun কিংবা  Pronoun এর দোষ, গুণ, অবস্থা, সংখ্যা, পরিমান ইত্যাদি বুঝায় তাকে Adjective বলে।
Rakib is a good boy.
Afif is very clever.
Give me two pens.

Adjective কত প্রকার ও কী কী?

Adjective প্রধানত ২ প্রকার। Attributive Adjective ও Predicative Adjective.
Adjective যখন noun এরে প্রর্বে বসে তার attribute বা দোষ-গুণ প্রকাশ করে তখন তাকে  Attributive Adjective বলে।


যেমনঃ- The intelligent girl stood first in the examination. এখানে Intelligent  শব্দটা Adjective এবং এটা girl (noun) এর আগে বসে  noun এর গুণ বুঝাচ্ছে।
Adjective যখন verb বা ক্রিয়ার পরে  বসে  noun এর দোষ-গুণ প্রকাশ করে তখন তাকে  predicative adjective বলে।
যেমনঃ- The girl is very intelligent.

Adjective মোট ৮ প্রকার।
1. Proper Adjective: Proper Noun থেকে Proper Adjective হয়। যেমনঃ- Asian, Chinese, French, English, African, Pajabi.
This is a Bangladeshi boy.
I like a Chinese dish.

2. Adjective of quality: Noun বা pronoun এর দোষ, গুণ অবস্থা প্রকাশ করে। যেমনঃ- good, bad, wise, poor, rich, great, hot, happy, cold, warn, lazy.
She is very beautiful but lazy girl.
The rich men are not always happy.

3. Adjective of quantity: Noun বা  pronoun এর quantity বা সংখ্যা বুঝায়। যেমনঃ- much, huge, some, a little, all, any, half, full, whole, enough.
Rakib drinks much milk.
I have eaten some rice.
I have enough sugar.

4. Numeral Adjective: Noun বা  pronoun এর সংখ্যা বুঝায়। যেমনঃ- one, two, three, four, first, second, third, forth, all, any, many, some, several, each, a few.
Four girls are in the common room.
Some boys are clever, not all.
Two third of the boys have passed in the exam.

5. Demonstrative Adjective: কোন ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুকে বিশেষভাবে নির্দেশ করে। যেমনঃ- this, that, these, those, such.
This boy is stronger than that boy.
These mangoes are sweet.

6. Distributive Adjective: একাধিক ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুর মধ্যে প্রত্যেকটিকে পৃথকভাবে  নির্দেশ করে। যেমনঃ- each, every, either, neither.
You may take either side.
She took neither side.

7. Interrogative Adjective: প্রশ্নসূচক শব্দ যেগুলো  noun এর পূর্বে adjective এর মত ব্যবহৃত হয়। যেমনঃ- whose, which, what.
Which pen do you want?
What books are you reading?

8. Possessive Adjective: অধিকার বা সম্বন্ধসূচক adjective. যেমনঃ- my, our, your, his, her, their.
This is my book and that is your book.
I know his brother.
